Vasilios Mayasis ( Greek Βασίλειος Μαγιάσης ; 1880 , Cairo - 1926 , Leros ) [1] - Greek painter-marinist of the late 19th - early 20th century.

Biography
Vasilios Mayasis was born in 1880 in the Greek community of Cairo , Egypt . Mayasis studied painting in Naples, Italy . Mayasis lived and worked in Western Europe, but with the outbreak of World War I, in 1914, he settled in Greece.
In 1917, he studied painting, later known to the Greek artist Gikas Hadzikiriakos [2] .
The artist died in 1926 on the island of Leros.
Mayasis left behind many landscapes of Egypt and Attica . But the main theme of Mayasis' works is the sea. Critics note the significant influence of Mayasis on modern Greek marine painting. His works are exhibited at the National Gallery of Greece [3] .
