Biography
Born in Trieste in the family of Anton and Eliza Gerial. After the end of World War I, he moved with his family to Ljubljana. He studied at a classical gymnasium (1926-1934), secretly collaborated with the technical committee of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia in Slovenia. In 1934 he was admitted to the Communist Party, in the same year he was expelled from the gymnasium and was arrested for 9 months. After his release, he resumed cooperation with the Communists, but in 1937 he again went to prison (serving his sentence in Sremska Mitrovica). After another release, he worked in the cultural and educational circle "Reciprocity" ( Slovenian. Vzajemnost ).
In April 1941, Tone immediately after the surrender of the Yugoslav royal army joined the people's liberation movement and received a fake passport in the name of Alois Zhumera. He worked in the Central Technical Committee of the Communist Party of Slovenia, from March 1942 he was engaged in technical support of both the party leadership and partisans. In May 1942, he was discovered by the Italian police and thrown into prison, where he was tortured. On June 11, 1942, after a swept wave of arrests, he was shot in Ljubljana.
November 27, 1953 posthumously awarded the Order and the title of People's Hero of Yugoslavia.
