The International Tournament at GamesCom 2011

The tournament involves 16 teams. A direct invitation to the tournament was received by all 16 teams from around the world who were playing DotA at that time (Dota 2 was not yet on the market) [3] [4] . There were no qualifiers.

Due to visa problems, the StarsBoBa team could not come to the tournament, and the Czech team SGC took its place [2] . All competitors received the keys to the game a month before the tournament in order to be able to prepare for it.

Interesting Facts

  • During the games, all participants wore special bracelets on their hands, which measured the pulse and displayed it in the form of a graph available for viewing by the audience [9] .
  • All played games are available for viewing on the official website with comments in 4 languages: English, Chinese, German and Russian. The option without comment using the camera [10] is also available.
  • In the match of the second semi-final of the lower bracket, which took place before one victory (best of 1), between the Russian guys from Moscow5 and the Chinese mastadons of that time - EHOME, a very unpleasant bug occurred, namely Gem of True Sight did not work - it did not give an overview on β€œInvisible guards” (wards). As a result, the Chinese saw the movement of the opponent, but he did not suspect about it.
