Description

Officially, the Indian National Film Award for Best Actress was first awarded in 1969 and awarded at the 16th awards ceremony. The first formally recorded in the documents of the award laureate of the nomination was the 5-year-old Baby Rani (“Baby Rani”), which had appeared on the big screen in 26 films by that time for her role in the Tamil-language film “ Kuzhanthaikkaga ” [2] . At the same time, a number of indirect sources (not directly related to the organizing committee of the prize) argue that the prizes were given to the children’s actors at least twice before. In particular, at the 11th award ceremony in 1964, a special prize was awarded at the age of 4.5 to the future filmmaker for his role in the best film of the year for the Marathi “ Ha Maza Marg Ekala ” [3] [4 ] ] [5] , and according to the book “ Pride of Tamil Cinema: 1931 to 2013 ” (the most awarded National Film Award in the corresponding category in 2015 [6] ), the day after the 13th ceremony (1966), the prize was also awarded to , who played the twin sisters in Tamil’s best film of the past year in Kujandaiyum Deivamum [7] .

The youngest laureate in the history of the nomination was , who at the age of three played the title role in the Tamil film (1990); the oldest is Rishi Kapoor , who was awarded the prize for playing as a young Raju at the age limit of the category (16 years) in the film “ My Name is Clown ”, and due to the passage of all films through the censorship commission for its release in 1970 There were about eighteen rishis, and for rewarding - 19 years.

Like other “personal” nominations, the award for Best Actress belongs to the rank of “Silver Lotus” ( Hindi रजत कमल , Rajat Kamal ). The award includes an Award Medallion ( NFA ), an award certificate, and starting from the 24th ceremony in 1977 - a cash prize (until 2006 - 10 thousand, later -50 thousand rupees ).

The honor of presenting awards, as well as for other nominations of the National Film Award, traditionally belongs to the President of India [8] .
