Urvalov, Victor Alexandrovich

Victor Alexandrovich Urvalov ( January 26, 1928 , Leningrad ) - Soviet and Russian radio historian, author of several publications on the history of Soviet radio and television. He became one of the main characters in the dispute over his superiority in inventing the radio , promoting the priority of Alexander Stepanovich Popov .

Biography

Victor Urvalov's father was a printing house mechanic, his mother was a housewife; Victor, born in Leningrad on January 26, 1928, became the middle of five children. Before the war he graduated from six classes, was evacuated in July 1941. Since the summer of 1943 he was transferred to work in Molotov (modern Perm ) with a group of senior schoolchildren, where he worked in the physics laboratory of the Stalin aircraft engine plant for more than a year [1] .

This direction became a profession, upon returning to Leningrad in 1944, he entered the Department of Physical Chemistry of the Technological Institute and at the radio workshop of the Mine and Torpedo Institute . According to the results of work during the war, he was awarded the medal "For Valiant Labor during the Great Patriotic War " [1] .

Since 1947 he went to work at the All-Union Research Institute of Television , worked on restoration work at the Leningrad Telecentre and took part in the installation of experimental television systems, which he later reflected in his books. After serving in the army he graduated from the correspondence philological faculty of Leningrad State University , while studying in 1957 he was awarded the medal "In memory of the 250th anniversary of Leningrad . " Since 1960, he began working as an editor of scientific and technical literature, in 1963 he prepared a historical review in connection with the 25th anniversary of television broadcasting, and from that moment he has been engaged in the history of science and technology [1] . Since 1965, Urvalov has published more than 300 articles, ten books and brochures, some of which have been published by the publishing houses of the USSR Academy of Sciences and the Russian Academy of Sciences. From 1965 to 1997 he was the head of the laboratory of the information department of the Central Research Institute "Electron" [2] .

In 1980, he became the head of the Historical Section of the A. Popov NTORES in St. Petersburg; in 1988, an order was issued by the USSR Minister of Communications, according to which Viktor Urvalov received the title of Honorary Radio Operator of the USSR . In the framework of the historical section, a lot of work was done on the anniversary dates: the 100th anniversary of the invention of radio (1995) and the 90th anniversary of electronic television (1997), including thematic issues of the journal Radio Electronics and Communications , representatives of the historical section were invited to the organizing committees , prepared anniversary meetings, spoke on radio and television, defending the domestic priority in inventions.
