The Art Museum of the University of Memphis (AMUM ) is located at 3750 Norriswood Avenue in Memphis, Tennessee , USA . The museum was opened in October 1981 [1] as the University Gallery ; In 1994, the name changed to the present. [2]

The museum is open Monday through Saturday, from 9.00 to 17.00, not working on university weekends. For visiting the museum, as well as for excursions in it, no fee is charged. [2]
Content
Collections
The museum has several permanent collections with a total of 5000 exhibits [3] . The “ Egyptian collection ”, represented by archaeological artifacts, stands out. The first 44 exhibits of the Egyptian collection were acquired in 1975 from the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston ( Massachusetts ). Currently, this collection is the largest collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts in the South of the USA . Most of its exhibits were donated to the museum by individuals and organizations. [2]
Among the permanent exhibitions are also the “African Collection” and the “Collection of Works on Paper,” consisting of about 90 prints purchased from museums or received from donors. [2]
Temporary exhibitions
“ArtLab”, “Caseworks” and “Multimedia Space”, as well as 2 galleries, are designed for temporary exhibitions in the museum, which usually represent a variety of art, from classical to contemporary. [2]
