History and Activities

The power plant was built in the pre-war period - from 1934 to 1939 - on the territory of East Prussia , in the city of Gumbinnen, and was in operation until 1945 . In accordance with the decree of the Government of the USSR of May 25, 1946, Gumbinnenskaya State District Power Station No. 5 was transformed and was part of Koenigsberenergo.

The CHP was restored until 1955 , when its first phase was put into operation, consisting of medium-pressure steam boilers with natural circulation with a steam capacity of 35 t / h each of Babcock-Wilcox [1] and Shihau-Elbing firms and radial turbo alternator of the company "Brush-Jungstrom" (England) with a capacity of 15 MW. March 28, 1955 the station took an industrial load. In 1957, the second phase of the station was commissioned.

Initially, the CHP operated on fuel oil . In 2011, by the decision of Mikhail Tsikel , Director General of Yantarenergo OJSC , a working group was created to convert the combined heat and power plant to natural gas, which was completed as soon as possible, accurately connecting the three existing boiler units to the gas supply system on schedule. A gas pipeline with the necessary equipment was installed on the territory of the TPP, modern automation equipment was installed on the boilers themselves.

With the beginning of the heating season of 2011-2012, the Gusevskaya TPP completely switched from expensive fuel oil to an economically more profitable “blue fuel”. Fuel oil remained for the CHP as a reserve fuel [2] .

In the summer of 2012, a hurricane passed in Gusev, after which the CHP chimney deviated from the vertical. For safety reasons, surveyors recommended shortening the pipe by 10 meters to maintain its stability. Now its height is 62 meters [3] .

As of 2014, three medium-pressure steam boilers with a capacity of 190 t / h and two turbogenerators with a total electric capacity of 15.5 MW were installed at Gusevskaya TPP . The station provides a combined supply of thermal and electric energy. The total heat load of the station is 118 Gcal / h.
