CARIFTA Games are annual junior athletics competitions that have been held since 1972. Founded with the direct support of the Caribbean Free Trade Association (CARIFTA), the forerunner of the current Caribbean Community . Traditionally held on Easter weekends.
The initiator of the games was the then president of the Athletic Association of Barbados, Austin Seeley, and now a member of the IOC . Best Games Athlete Awarded the Austin Seeley Prize.
The competition program includes almost all athletics disciplines, with the exception of athletic walking and a marathon. Athletes compete in accordance with all IAAF rules in two age categories, these are juniors whose age is from 18 to 20 years old and at the age of 16 and 17 years.
