- 1045 - The construction of St. Sophia Cathedral in Novgorod began . The cathedral was founded by Vladimir Yaroslavich in the presence of Grand Duke Yaroslav the Wise and Princess Irina (Ingegerdy) . The cathedral was founded on the site of the Vladychny Dvor and was built until about 1050 .
