Biography
Stanislav Pachka was born on September 16, 1945 in the village of Kukuv, Lesser Poland Voivodeship . In his youth he moved to the city of Nowy Sacz , where he joined the local sports club “Dunaets” and mastered the profession of luge. In the period 1961-1963 in various sled disciplines five times became the champion of Poland among juniors. In 1962, he visited the European Youth Championship, took eleventh place there alone and ninth in doubles, as well as adult - he was twelfth in both single and double sleighs. In 1965, in the men's doubles he won the silver medal of the national championship and went to the world championship in Davos, Switzerland - he settled down in the seventh position in the singles program. A year later, he again received silver at the championship of his country.
In 1968, together with his partner, Lucian Kujey, Pachka won the title of champion of Poland in double sleds and, thanks to a series of successful performances, was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the Winter Olympic Games in Grenoble . He and Kuja planned to compete for medals here, but after two races they could only get to the ninth place in the standings of the twos.
Despite the failure with the Olympics, Stanislav Pachka remained in the main team of the national team and continued to participate in major international tournaments. On February 1, 1969, at the World Championships near the German lake Königssee, he flew out of the track at full speed, hit his head hard on a tree and soon died from his injuries.
