Biography
Born July 20, 1914 in Petkovec. Before the war he worked at a leather factory in Kamnik. In the guerrilla movement since 1941, known under the pseudonym Mohor . Initiator of the partisan movement in Kamnik, co-founders of the 1st Kamnik company and the Kamnik partisan battalion.
As part of the Kamnik battalion, Jacob participated in a variety of skirmishes: he received baptism of fire at the Battle of Drazhgosh. In a short time in the Tukhinskaya Valley, he recruited 150 people, of whom he created the Kamnik-Kokra Partisan Detachment. In June 1942, with his troops, he took Straine, Chrnivets, and also defeated the troops near Kozyak and Brezovitsy. June 10, 1942 Molek alone with his detachment broke a large group of Italians and Germans.
After the liberation of Nové Shtifat and the Savinja Valley, he was appointed political officer of the battalion, until the summer of 1944 he was deputy political officer at the 6th brigade named after Slavko Schlander . In the autumn of 1944 in Styria he became a member of the local committee of the Communist Party of Slovenia. At the end of 1944 he moved to Prekmurje.
March 7, 1945 Jacob Molek died in Bistrita in battles with the Germans. Buried in the Mountain Bistrita. By the decree of Josip Broz Tito of November 27, 1953, he was posthumously awarded the order and title of the National Hero of Yugoslavia.
