The draw for the Euro 2016 qualifying tournament was held in Nice on February 23, 2014. Group A included the national football teams of the following countries: Netherlands , Czech Republic , Turkey , Latvia , Iceland , Kazakhstan . Matches in group A were from September 9, 2014 to October 13, 2015.
Direct tickets to Euro 2016 were won by the teams of the Czech Republic and Iceland , who took the first two places in the group, as well as the Turkish team, which became the best team from the third place in their groups in the selection.
The Icelandic national team for the first time in its history will take part in the final tournament of the European Championship . The Netherlands national team , which became the third at the 2014 World Cup, sensationally failed the qualifying tournament and for the first time since 1984 did not make it to the final of the European Championship.
