Professor in Leipzig, then in Jena. Read oratory and versification. He owns a number of studies and critical articles about Theocritus, Tibull, Horace, Fedra, etc.
Eichstedt masterfully mastered the Latin language, as can be seen from his speech about Goethe: “Oratio Goethii memoriae dicata” (Jena, 1832). A collection of his Latin works was published under the title. Opuscula oratoria Weisborne (1848-1849; 2nd ed., 1850). Corresponding member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences from 07.12.1844 in the historical and philological department (category of classical philology and archeology).
