Story
... The newly created world is inhabited by gods . The gods are creators of mortals - people who, in turn, serve the divine welfare. Gods are different from people, they are taller; can transform into zoomorphic creatures clad in biomechanical metallized armor ; instead of blood, gold flows in the divine veins, so that they live for thousands of years in human time ...
Power in the inhabited world is divided between the gods-brothers: Osiris , the god of nature and life, and Seth , the god of the red desert. However, the day comes when the elder god Osiris decides to give power over the country (see Ancient Egypt ) to his son Horus.
... Gore wakes up in his chambers after drinking, his bride, the goddess Hathor , visits him and reminds him of an important upcoming event - a coronation .
During the ceremony of transferring royal power from Osiris to his son Horus, Seth kills his brother Osiris and usurps the power in Egypt. Gore is trying to take revenge on the fratricide, but is defeated and Seth snatches the eyes of the fallen god - the source of his power of transformation into a falcon shackled in armor. Only the intervention of the goddess of love Hathor saves the life of Horus, whom the conquering god pardons. Seth, becoming the new ruler of Egypt, establishes a slave order and payment for passage into the afterlife . Beloved Mountain Hathor becomes the mistress of the ruler of the united Egypt.
Against the background of divine family clashes, the story of the young thief Beck and his beloved Zana is told in the first person. Beck and Zana are enslaved, as are all mortals after the coup d'état by Set. Zana, being a slave of the court architect Ursha and a secret adherent of the defeated Horus, instructs Beck to steal God's eyes from the treasury of Seth, while showing Beck the architectural plans of the treasury and the deserted pyramid of Seth. Beck steals the eye of Horus, as there was only one in the treasury, but when he returned, he was ambushed by Ursha, from which he was trying to escape with his girlfriend. During the chase, Ursha kills Zana with a bow shot . Deciding that only Gore can help him resurrect the dead girl, Beck heads off to the sanctuary of God, where he drags out the miserable existence of a blind drunkard, feeding on offerings from rare admirers.
Beck concludes an agreement with Gore that a person helps God to get into the pyramid of Set in order to destroy the source of his power, and God, in turn, helps to return Zana from the other world. At the same time, Gor is silent about the fact that he does not possess the actual power to return mortals from the afterlife. Together, man and god go to the orbit of the flat Earth on the Boat of Millions of Years - the spacecraft of the god Ra , the creator of life on Earth and the father of the gods Osiris and Set.
By hiding Beck in the space rook's hold so that he does not burn from the divine radiance of Ra, Gore asks his grandfather to intervene in earthly affairs, and also return the lost divine powers of transfiguration due to the absence of a second eye, but the sun god refuses to interfere because he is busy nightly fight against the giant demon worm Apophis . Ra however permits to take the waters of creation from the divine river and gives a series of instructions to Horus, his grandson. The water of creation received by Horus can extinguish the fiery desert — the source of the power of Set.
Seth is preparing to become the ruler of the whole world, for this he must break down the stronghold of the last resistance of the separatist gods - the stronghold of his wife Nephthys , and then conquer the last territory free from royal power - the afterlife kingdom. Smashing the protection of recalcitrant gods, Set cripples his wife, tearing off her wings.
Seth's forced lover Hathor escapes from him and joins man and god. During the journey, the heroes attract Toth to their side and meet the Sphinx guarding the pyramid with the fiery desert. With the help of Thoth, having successfully solved the riddle of the Sphinx, they penetrate the heart of the pyramid, where they fall into the trap of Set. Seth kills Thoth, taking away his brain, and during a short conversation with Beck explains that even the gods are unable to return the dead man. Thanks to the man’s short confusion, Seth destroys a vial of creation water. The pyramid begins to crumble, but Horus manages to break the trap and the heroes safely get out. Realizing that there are no more chances to win, and wanting to help Beck say goodbye to Zana one last time, Hathor calls on the god Anubis , where he asks to give a gold bracelet that protects her from demons as payment for going to the afterlife; she sacrifices herself. As soon as Hathor removes the bracelet, the demons take her away, and Beck sets off with Anubis to the afterlife.
At this very time, Seth inserts the brain of Toth, the left eye of Horus, the wings of Nephthys, the heart of Osiris, having gained their strength, and goes to the monastery of Ra. During the conversation, Ra encourages his son to take his place, but he wants to live forever and rule forever on Earth. Seth, in the course of a short household skirmish in which he, accusing his father of depriving him of his ability to give life (the joys of childbearing and paternity), injures Ra with the help of the forces of other gods and selects his staff with which he restrained Apophis. The fallen god of the sun falls into the waters of creation and sets off along the stream of spirits, being helpless without his staff.
With a staff, Seth drives the worm of Apophis to the Nile River to destroy the source of life on Earth - it will destroy the Gates of the Dead. Anubis, restraining the destruction of the boundaries of the two worlds, asks Beka to join Gore in a fight with Seth and fix the crumbling world. Horus and Beck, whom Anubis had returned to Earth from the afterlife, enter into a fight with Seth. During the battle, Beck snatches the second eye of Horus from the body of Set, but receives a mortal wound and dies at the hands of the sky god. Gore, finally realizing the meaning of his life, consisting in protecting the population of the earth, kills Set. The girl who picked up the second eye of Horus on the street returns it to the victorious god. Ra gets his staff back and drives the worm away, then comes to Gore and asks what he wants. Gore asks for what he cannot do — bring Beck and Zan back to life.
Gore is crowned kingdom by the united Egypt, the resurrected gods are present at the ceremony, including He, as well as the cured Nephthys. The first command, he defines a new fee for the passage to the afterlife - good deeds.
At the end of the story, it turns out that Hathor’s gold bracelet remained with Beck, and Gore went to fetch his beloved, leaving Egypt in temporary control of his vizier , Bek.

Reviews
The film received negative reviews from critics. Mostly blamed for the abuse of computer graphics , poor selection of actors for skin color , deliberately simplifying the very complex mythology of Egypt to please the audience, as well as stereotyped plot moves and characters. On the Rotten Tomatoes "Gods of Egypt" have a rating of 16% with an average score of 3.5 out of 10.
To criticism, the director replied on his Facebook :
“I have never been given good reviews on any of the films. Is that the critics who think themselves. Alas, they almost all died. I seem to be making the wrong films for critics. Now they sharpened their axes and tear our project, allegedly hiding behind political correctness, accusing me of racism. Here they are weak-willed idiots.
The modern era of technology makes critics useless; they, like dinosaurs and newspapers, will soon die out. Now any viewer can message his friends about the film with a message. So the critics themselves are just trying to match the public mood.
How to achieve this? Crawl on the Internet, read the opinions of colleagues and bloggers, and then write a similar one. Lock up a critic of one in a room with a film that no one has ever seen, and he will not know what to say about him. Film critics have lost their sense of taste and personal opinion, since they prefer to follow mainstream trends so that their assessment is not removed from the average.
I applaud any viewer who has an opinion about whether the film was bad or good, not based solely on someone’s reviews. ” [15]
