Reviews
Excerpt from the article:
... the largest by meter (almost 17 minutes) and, perhaps, the most successful "Olympic" work by Multtelefilm is the film by A.I. Solin "Wheel of Fortune" (1980, scriptwriter L.I. Likhodeev, production director I. A. Wheat). The script of Leonid Likhodeev initially demanded serious processing, which was produced by the director. However, due to the time spent on reworking the script, the timeline for the production of the film was very tight. This pushed Solin and Pshenichnaya to abandon backgrounds and celluloid and to choose an unusual technology: the entire film was shot on sheets of “tracing paper” (the contour is pen-shaped and colored with colored pencils), while the decoration solution is simplified to a minimum and reduced to a few details that were painted anew in each phase of the movement. The content of the work was again the fantasy on ancient Greek themes, as in the Dakhno film “How the Cossacks became Olympians”. However, this time Hercules competed with Ares, personifying sporting prowess and honesty. In the parody duel of the heroes, as in the Dakhno film, many modern sports were depicted. The story of the creation of this tape is replete with curious details. This and the attempt to bring to work Yu. I. Vizbor (unfortunately, the song he wrote for the film was not useful, but their relationship with the director did not spoil it), and the unexpected proposal of the film composer Sh. E. Callos Solin to conduct the choir during music recordings (with which Anatoly Ivanovich coped with honor, having the experience of performing, including solo, in the children's choir). The laborious film was delivered on time and was shown during the Olympics. Until now, this picture looks with interest ...
