Ithikath ( Arabic. اعتكاف - stay, solitude) - pious solitude in a mosque .
Procedure
Muslim believers take a vow that provides for a certain number of days in the mosque, at the request of the believer to worship Allah . In Islam, there is a mandatory and preferred itikaf. A itikaf becomes obligatory if a Muslim has made a vow on this occasion, and a itikaf is preferable in the last decade of the month of Ramadan [1] . Some believers of their own free will remain at a certain time in the mosque until the festive prayer on the occasion of the end of the month of Ramadan.
During the period of itiqaf, believers should not leave the mosque, unless he needs to send his natural needs and take a bath [2] . After that, you must immediately return to the mosque. If a person leaves the mosque for no good reason, loses consciousness or is excited, then his person becomes invalid [1] .
During the itikaf, “believers perform namaz , recite the Quran , commemorate Allah, recite prayers .” [3] And they also observe fasting [2] .
In order for the itikaf to be valid it is necessary that a person [1] :
- was a Muslim ;
- was in a normal mind;
- was in a state of ritual purity [1] .
