The basin of the lake is of glacial origin, extended from the northwest to the southeast, the shape is lobed. The shores are low, in the southern part elevated, covered with forest. The rivers flow into the lake - Aittoyoki , Lapinyoki , Sariyarvyanyoki , Heynyayoki . A canal flowing out of the lake without a name connects to Lake Suojärvi .
The bottom is covered with silt, sand and stones.
Thickets of aquatic vegetation are represented by sedge, horsetail, reed, water lily, egg capsule and nest.
The bream, roach, ruff, pike, perch, vendace, burbot live in the lake.
