Pyotr Demidovich Gneny ( Ukrainian: Petro Demidovich Gennii ; born August 5, 1920 , Kaleniki ) is a leading manufacturer and innovator in the iron and steel industry , steelmaker , technologist of the crimping workshop at the Azovstal plant, Hero of Socialist Labor .

Biography
Born on August 5, 1920 in the village of Kaleniki (now Reshetilovsky district of the Poltava region ) in a peasant family. In Mariupol since 1931 . He graduated from high school number 36, entered the Melitopol Agricultural Institute . In 1940 he graduated from accounting courses.
Member of World War II . He fought near Leningrad on the Volkhov Front , in the Baltic states , near Koenigsberg . Member of the CPSU (b) since 1944 .
Working since 1947 at the Azovstal Zhdanov Metallurgical Plant, he made valuable rationalization proposals in the development of technology for heating special steels. In 1955, he launched heating wells in a crimping workshop at the Anshan Metallurgical Plant in Manchuria ( PRC ). The initiator of the movement "The Ninth Five-Year Plan - metal of excellent quality." Member of the Supreme Council of the USSR 7-8th convocations ( 1966 - 1974 ). Since 1974 - retired.
Awards
Hero of Socialist Labor ( March 23, 1966 ). The title was awarded for outstanding success in the development of ferrous metallurgy.
He was awarded the Orders of Lenin , the October Revolution , the Badge of Honor , two - the Patriotic War II degree, the Red Star , the Red Banner of Labor , Friendship (PRC), medals [1] .
Honorary citizen of Mariupol since April 16, 1975 . The title was awarded for valiant work and outstanding services in many years of social activity [2] .
