History
The history of the village of Khatuy dates back to the Middle Ages and is inextricably linked with the Kabardian princely Anzorov family.
Before the start of the Caucasian War, the Anzorovs owned large lands around the Terek , Urukh , Lesken and Sunzha rivers .
The founder of the village is Khat Anzor, a nobleman ( werk ), who had great authority among the princes and nobles of Kabarda. Under him, practically all the internal and external affairs of Kabarda were resolved at the beginning of the nineteenth century .
For the first time, the aul of Hatu Anzorovo is found in archival documents of 1822 . Then the aul was located on the Belaya River, not far from the outlet of the Urukh River from the gorge of the Digor Gorge.
In 1825, according to the census of the villages of Kabarda, the village of Hatu Anzorovo was already located on the banks of the Urukh River, a few kilometers south of its present location.
In 1834, Hatu Anzorov relocated its aul to the left bank of the Terek River, not far from the Tatartup minaret .
In 1850, the aul moved back to the Urukh River, where it remains to this day. In 1851, the founder of the village, Khatu Anzorov, died, and the name of the founder remained behind the settlement.
In 1865, during the Land Reform of Kabarda, in the village of Hatu Anzorovo, part of the inhabitants of the village of Tembot Anzorov were resettled due to the resettlement of the majority of the inhabitants of this village to Turkey. Many residents of the village after the end of the Caucasian War , also moved to Turkey in several waves in 1869 , 1892 and 1904 , during the course of Muhajirism, due to their reluctance to submit to a different Russian administration.
In 1920 , with the final establishment of Soviet power in Kabarda, by the decision of the Revolutionary Committee of the Nalchik District, Hatu Anzorovo, like all other Kabardian settlements, was renamed due to the presence of princely and noble families in their names. As a result, the village received a new name - Old Urukh. When the village in 1920 was organized by the village council. Until 1937, the village council was part of the Urvansky district of the Kabardino-Balkarian ASSR. Then it is included in the composition of the newly formed Lesken district .
During World War II, the village was occupied by German troops for about two months. In early 1943, the village was liberated from the Nazis. Monuments have been erected in memory of those killed in the village
In 1962, with the liquidation of the Lesken district, the village with the village council was transferred back to the Urvansky district . In 1992, the village council of the village of Old Urukh was reorganized and transformed into a rural settlement of Old Urukh.
In 2003, the village was included in the newly formed Lesken district of the republic.
In 2004, it was approved to rename the village of Old Urukh, and return to it its historical name Khatuya. In 2005, the village was renamed, and the 155th anniversary of the resettlement from Terek to Urukh was celebrated [3] .
