About his family is currently not known. Presumably ruled in the south of Egypt; his rule should date back to the late pre-dynastic period, and he could be a contemporary of Narmer .
Until now, the name of Nei-Nate is known only by two references to burnt vases, which were found in the tomb number 257 in Helwan . Reading the name is problematic due to the fact that its mark is poorly preserved. Egyptologists Edwin van der Brink and Christian Köhler are convinced of reading the name as “Ni-Neith”. Its more accurate sound has not yet been determined [1] .
