The 8th operational regiment (formerly the Jaguar Special Forces Regiment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine ) is a unit of the Western Territorial Command of the National Guard of Ukraine , which is deployed in the city of Kalinovka, Vinnitsa Region .

Content
History
It was established on June 1, 1994 on the basis of the training center of the military unit of 3008 internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the village of Tyutki, Vinnitsa district, Vinnitsa region . Since October 14, 1995, it is deployed in the city of Kalinovka, Vinnitsa region [3] .
March 11, 2014 it was decided to recreate the National Guard of Ukraine on the basis of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine [4] . Later in the spring of 2014, the Jaguar was transferred to the National Guard of Ukraine [5]
Functions
It is used to establish law and order during group hooligan actions, suppress riots, and suppress riots in places of deprivation of liberty. In the event of an aggravation of the situation at the state border, it can be used for coordinated actions with units of the State Border Service of Ukraine. In a military conflict, it acts as an assault squad. The unit can carry out both defensive and offensive operations. In a normal situation, personnel are engaged in official and combat training, and carry out patrol service for the protection of public order [6] .

Activities
In just six years of activity, from 2005 to the beginning of 2011, special forces fighters more than 30 times traveled outside the place of permanent deployment, they participated in the maintenance of public order, during this period they detained 400 suspected of crimes and over 8700 citizens who committed administrative offenses, seized over 40 units of cold steel and firearms and over eight and a half kilograms of narcotic substances [8] . In the summer of 2010, fighters participated in the maintenance of public order in the resort area of Odessa region, with their participation 50 crimes were uncovered and more than 2,000 offenders were detained, as a result of 200 fighters were awarded certificates of honor of the Odessa Region Ministry of Internal Affairs [9] .
In January 2014, during the events of Euromaidan , special forces participated in maintaining public order in Kiev [10] [11] , during clashes with Euromaidan activists, ten fighters of the Jaguar unit [7] [11] were injured and injured.
On February 10, 2014, Euromaidan supporters staged a picket near the Jaguar base in Kalinovka [12]
After the change of power in February 2014, employees of the special unit "Jaguar" were involved in the events of the political crisis in Ukraine in 2014 .
On April 8, 2014, the Jaguar stormed the building of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, which was occupied by the separatists. As a result, 70 protesters were arrested and sent to pre-trial detention facilities in Kiev and Poltava region [13] . During the operation, the fighters of the Jaguar had military weapons and permission to use them, but they did not use the weapons [11] . After the operation was completed, the head of the regiment’s educational work department, Sergey Kryzhanovsky, told reporters that the Jaguar’s employees “perked up.” They believed that they were needed, in demand, that they were trusted ” [11] .
The personnel of the unit participated in the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine [14] .
- So, on May 13, 2014, at a press conference in Kiev, the fighter of the 1st battalion of the National Guard of Ukraine, Andrei Antonishchak, said that in the Slavyansk area, fighters of the special forces “Jaguar” killed 54 militants, having lost 5 people killed and 14 wounded in this battle [15]
- On May 29, 2014, in the Slavyansk region, a Mi-8MT helicopter of the National Guard of Ukraine was shot down from the ground by fire, all 12 people on board were killed [16] (including at least three military personnel of the Jaguar regiment) [17]
- On August 17, 2014, an armored personnel carrier of the National Guard was shot down in the battle for the Yasinovataya district center, a soldier of the Jaguar regiment, machine gunner M. Mushta was killed [18]
