Botanical description
Representatives of the genus - dioecious or monoecious trees , covered with simple pubescence. Finger-cut leaves, leaflets opposite or successive, the last of them is located almost perpendicular to the rest.
Flowers same-sex (smaller) or bisexual (larger than male), collected in the spike, racemoid or panicle, inflorescences . Calyx is five - fold, sepals overlapping each other. A corolla consists of five petals free from each other, attached to the staminate tube. Stamens fused into a goblet or spherical staminate tube with (8) 10 anthers. Ovary 3-5 nest, in each nest 1 ovule.
The fruit is a 1–5 seed berry , in each section there are 1–2 seeds. Seeds with a developed arillus .
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 144.
Area
Two species are distributed only on the islands of Malezia . The homeland of a typical species, often grown as a fruit tree, has not been precisely established; it can also be Malezia or southern Thailand .
