He was a professor of classical philology at the University of Breslav . His works: “In Varronis saturas Menippeas observationes” (1891); "Beiträge zur Geschichte der griechischen Philosophie" (1892); Die Antike Kunstprosa von VI Jahrhundert vor Christ. bis in die Zeit der Renaissance "(1898).
Corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences since January 31, 1931 in the department of social sciences (classical philology).
