Dabeiba ( Spanish: Dabeiba ) is a city and municipality in the west of Colombia , in the Antioquia department. It is part of the Western Antioquia subregion .

Content
History
The settlement, from which the city later grew, was founded on November 3, 1850 . The municipality of Dabeyba was separated into a separate administrative unit in 1887 .
Geographical position
The city is located in the western part of the department, in the highlands of Western Cordillera , approximately 108 kilometers northwest of Medellin , the administrative center of the department. The absolute height is 971 meters above sea level [1] .
The municipality of Dabeiba borders in the north with the municipalities of Mutata and Ituango , in the east with the municipality of Peke , in the southeast with the municipality of Uramita , in the south with the municipality of Frontino , in the west with the municipality of Murindo , as well as with the territory of the Choco department. The area of the municipality is 2262 km² [2] .
Population
According to the National Administrative Department of Statistics of Colombia, the total population of the city and municipality in 2012 was 23,643 people [3] . The dynamics of the population of the municipality by years:

According to the 2005 census, men accounted for 50% of the population of Dabeiba, women - respectively 50%. Racially, whites and mestizos made up 86.2% of the city's population; Indians - 13.2%; Negroes , mulattoes and Raisals - 0.6% [4] . The literacy rate among the entire population was 65.8%.
Economics
The basis of the economy of Dabeyba is agricultural production . Beans, tomatoes, passion fruit and other crops are grown in the municipality.
59.6% of the total number of urban and municipal enterprises are trade enterprises, 31.5% are service enterprises, 8.3% are industrial enterprises, 0.6% are enterprises of other sectors of the economy [4] .
