Career

At the Olympics in Atlanta, Andrei won the bronze medal in the 200 meter breaststroke , losing to the Hungarians Karoy Guettler and Norbert Roger [1] . His coach was Nadezhda Aschepkova [2] .

Three - time European champion in the 200 meter breaststroke and 4 × 100 meter combined relay, as well as the silver medalist in the World Short Course Championships .

March 28, 1998 set a world record in swimming 200 meters breaststroke in short water - 2: 07.79. The achievement lasted almost two years - in 2000 it was improved by another Russian Roman Sludnov .

At the 1998 World Cup, Andrei participated in the 100 and 200 meter breaststroke heats, as well as the combined relay.

Education

In 1998 he graduated from the Russian State Academy of Physical Culture .

Death

He died on May 2, 2014 after a long illness of stomach cancer [3] . He was buried at the Nikolo-Arkhangelsk cemetery.
