Early years
Lamond Murray was born in Pasadena ( California ) and studied at the John F. Kennedy Fremont School (California), where he played for the local basketball team.
Student career
After graduation, Murray entered the University of California at Berkeley , where for three years he played for the California Golden Birds team, where he spent a successful career, gaining 1,688 points, 596 rebounds, 160 broadcasts, 110 interceptions and 75 blockshots [1 ] . Under Murray, Golden Bears never won the regular championship and Pacific-10 conference tournament , but for two years in a row went into the playoffs of the US student championship (1993-1994) [2] [3] [4] . In the 1992/1993 season, Golden Bears reached the 1/8 finals of the NCAA tournament ( English Sweet Sixteen ), where they lost to the Kansas Jakhoks team (76-93) [3] .
March 10, 2012 Lamond Murray was included in the Pacific-12 Conference Basketball Hall of Fame [5] .
NBA Career
He played the position of a light forward . In 1994, he was selected for the NBA Draft under the 7th number by the Los Angeles Clippers team. Later, he played for the Cleveland Cavaliers , Toronto Raptors and New Jersey Nets teams. In total, the NBA spent 11 seasons. In 1994, Murray was included in the 2nd NCAA National Team [1] . Total for a career in the NBA spent 736 games in which scored 8286 points (an average of 11.3 per game), made 3033 selections , 978 assists , 684 interceptions and 319 blokshotov [6] .
Murray spent his best years as a NBA player in the Cleveland Cavaliers, in whose ranks he performed for three seasons (1999–2002). The best season of his career was the 2001/2002 season , in which he played in 71 games, gaining an average of 16.6 points per match and making 5.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.0 interceptions and 0.6 block shots [6] .
On September 25, 2002, Murray was exchanged for the Toronto Raptors team for Michael Stewart and a choice in the second round of the 2004 draft pick . On September 2, 2005, the Predators leadership refused its services, and six days later, Lamond, as a free agent, signed an agreement with the New Jersey Nets [6] . In October 2006, Murray decided to return to the Clippers and signed a contract with them [7] , but after a few days he was expelled from the team [8] .
His cousin Tracy Murray , who also appeared in the NBA as a light forward in the Portland Trail Blazers , Houston Rockets , Toronto Raptors, Washington Wizards , Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers teams , achieved more significant success in the league, becoming in the 1994/1995 season as part of the "Rockets" NBA champion , although he did not play a single match in the playoffs [9] .
Career in the junior leagues
After completing his professional career in the NBA, Murray decided to try his hand in the junior leagues by entering into an agreement with the Long Beach Brichers team, speaking at the American Basketball Association (ABA) , but he did not stay long in it (2007). In 2008, he signed a contract with the Los Angeles Lightning Club, which played in the International Basketball League (IBL) , in which he spent three seasons with breaks (2008, 2009, 2010), after which he signed an agreement with the Los Angeles Slam team who also played in ABA (2011–2012), after which he ended up completing his professional career.
Foreign career
In 2007, Murray briefly went to China , where, with breaks for two years, he played for the Guangdong Southern Tigers at the Chinese Basketball Association . In 2009, Lamond went to exotic Bahrain , where, with a break for two seasons, he played for the Al-Muharraq team [10] .
