History
Coupling was founded at the end of the XVII century by small service people . In 1746, there were 66 yards in the village. According to one version, the toponym comes from what happened once the connection ("coupling") of the two settlements, which gave rise to the village [2] .
In the 19th century, together with the village of Verkhnyaya Kolybelka and the villages of Degtevoe and Solovyovka, it was part of the estate of a retired major A.V. Solovyov. [3]
Until 1923, the village was territorially part of the Zemlyansky district of the Voronezh province .
Geographical position
The village is located on the Central Russian Upland , in the southern part of the Lipetsk Region, in the southern part of the Zadonsky District, south of the Snova River. The distance to the regional center (the city of Zadonsk ) is 14 km. The absolute height is 156 meters above sea level [4] . The nearest settlements are the village of Degtevoe , the village of Gudovka , the village of Balakhna , the village of Mukhino , the village of Zasnovka , the village of Pisarevka , the village of Solovyovka , the village of Verkhnyaya Kolybelka , the village of Olshanets , the village of Ksizovo , the village of Liberation .

According to the All-Russian Census , in 2010 the population of the village was 210 people (101 men and 109 women) [1] .

Attractions
In Skipnoy there is a dilapidated Orthodox church of Cosmas and Damian. The wooden temple was erected in 1760, and in 1790 was rebuilt in stone. In 1869, the chapel of the Assumption of the Mother of God was arranged on the right side. In the mid-1880s, there were 1,020 parishioners in the temple.
Near the church, the remains of the old church cemetery, on which the participant of the Napoleonic Wars was buried, Major General Luka Alekseevich Denisiev [6] .
