Biography
Versions of Grodd's biography vary depending on the author. His story was first set out in 1977 in DC Superstars No. 14: according to her, he came from a race of intellectual primates from the planet Calor, who decided to hypnotize the Green Lantern in order to escape from his dangerous planet to Earth, and in flight declared himself ruler of the gorillas, wanting to overthrow the rightful ruler of Solovar, what he could not do.
Grodd’s first meeting with the Flash occurred when Solovar, in the 1959 comic strip, was not yet a king, but a scientist, left rational gorillas to look at the life of mankind, but was caught by people, as a result of which he pretended to be an ordinary gorilla. Grodd went in search of him, but not with the goal of liberating, but with the goal of finding out the secret of controlling the minds of other creatures, with which he was going to seize power over intelligent gorillas and the whole Earth. However, Solovar, who escaped from people, turned to the superhero Flash for help and defeated Grodd with him, after which the latter became one of Flash's main enemies.
After the “ Crisis on Infinite Lands ”, Grodd’s story was changed: he, like his fellow tribesmen, was an ordinary gorilla living in the jungle of Africa until an alien ship crashed there, the pilot of which endowed the gorilla with a mind that is much superior to human, and two gorillas, Grodd and Solovar, also telepathic abilities. With the help of an alien, smart monkeys built a high-tech city called Gorilla City, and using a special force field they hid it from the eyes of people. However, Grodd thirsted for power and first killed the alien, and then tried to seize power first over Gorilla City, and later over the whole world.
Later, some of the details of this story changed depending on the author of the plot - first of all, regarding the time of the appearance of the City of Gorillas: sometimes it was attributed to the 19th century or even many thousands of years ago; accordingly, in this case, Grodd did not kill the founding alien, but was simply a citizen of a long-existing city-state, a mad scientist who wanted power.
Grodd often came into confrontation not only with Flash, but also with various other heroes of the DC universe, and was repeatedly a member or leader of super-villainous criminal groups. Often his goal was not just power over the world, but the transformation of all people on Earth into a gorilla.
Abilities
Gorilla Grodd has a huge level of intelligence, is able to read the thoughts of other people and subordinate their mind to his will; in some authors, in addition to this, it has telekinesis. In addition, his physical strength and dexterity significantly exceed these indicators in ordinary gorillas and, naturally, incomparably higher than human ones.
