The cross of Milan by Rastislav Stefanik was established by Law No. 37/1994 of February 2, 1994 .
It bears the name of Milan Rastislav Stefanik (1880-1919), a prominent figure in the Slovak national movement who participated in the creation of the independent Czechoslovak Republic.
Awarding grounds
The cross of Milan by Rastislav Stefanik is awarded to citizens of Slovakia who, at the risk of their own lives, have accomplished a feat in protecting the Slovak Republic, as well as those who saved the people and property of the state at the risk of life and health.
Each President of the Slovak Republic is a knight of the Cross of Milan Rastislav Stefanik first class.
