Rudolf Friedrich Moritz Haupt ( German: Rudolph Friedrich Moriz Haupt ; July 27, 1808 , Zittau - February 5, 1874 , Berlin ) is a German philologist, an eminent connoisseur of classical antiquities and a humanist.

Biography
He was a professor at the University of Leipzig . After the May events of 1849, he fell with Mommsen and Yang on trial for complicity in political society and, although justified, was deprived of the department. Later he was a professor in Berlin and the permanent secretary of the Berlin Academy of Sciences.
Corresponding Member of St. Petersburg from 04.12.1859 - on the historical and philological department (class of classical philology and archeology).
