Biography
Ivan Mashir was born on August 16, 1910 in the village of Slavyanka (now - Mezhevsky district of the Dnepropetrovsk region of Ukraine ). After completing seven classes of school, he worked on the collective farm . In 1929 he moved to the Stalin region of the Ukrainian SSR . In 1932 - 1934 he served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In August 1941, Mashir was again drafted into the army. Since October of the same year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. In the battles he was wounded [1] .
By August 1943, Senior Sergeant Ivan Mashir commanded a battery platoon of 45-millimeter guns of the 382nd Infantry Regiment of the 84th Infantry Division of the 53rd Army of the Steppe Front . Distinguished during the Battle of Kursk . In the period from August 18 to 23, 1943, a platoon of Mashir participated in battles in the area of the villages of Naumovka, Belgorod District, Belgorod Region, and Bezruki, Dergachev District, Kharkiv Region, Ukrainian SSR, and east of the city of Lyubotin . In fierce battles, Mashir repeatedly substituted for himself a retired platoon fighter, personally knocked out several German tanks [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of November 1, 1943, Senior Sergeant Ivan Mashir was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union and was awarded the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal. Star ” , number 2588 [1] .
In 1946, in the rank of lieutenant, Mashir was transferred to the reserve. He lived in the village Dachnoe Maryinsky district, Donetsk region, Ukrainian SSR, worked at the farm . Actively engaged in social activities. Died January 9, 1981 , buried in Dachnoe [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Patriotic War , 2nd degree and the Red Star , along with a number of medals [1] .
