Biography

Sergey Matsapura was born on February 15, 1919 in the village of Gden (now - the Bragin district of the Gomel region of Belarus ). After finishing seven classes of the school he worked on a collective farm . In 1939, Matsapura was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . Since the beginning of World War II - on its fronts. He was wounded three times in battles [1] .

By January 1945, the foreman Sergey Matsapura was the tank driver of the 49th Guards Tank Brigade of the 12th Guards Tank Corps of the 2nd Guards Tank Army of the 1st Belorussian Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of Poland . Between January 14 and 23, 1945, the Matsapura crew fought about five hundred kilometers to the west, taking an active part in the liberation of the cities of Blenduv , Sohachev , Lyuben and Inowroclaw , as well as a number of important military targets of the enemy. Cutting off the highway west of Inowroclaw, Matsapura and his comrades deprived the enemy of the opportunity to retreat in this direction [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 27, 1945, for "exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown" of the guard, Sergeant Sergeant Matsapura was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal The Star ” [1] .

After the war, Matsapura continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1947 he was demobilized. He worked in the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR. In 1951 he graduated from the courses at the Vladimir Officer School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR. In 1965, with the rank of captain Matsapura, he was sacked. He lived and worked as a mechanic at a factory in Moscow . He died on March 17, 1998, was buried at the Shcherbinsky Southern Cemetery in Moscow [1] .

He was also awarded the orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree and the Red Star , a number of medals [1] .
