Formed on July 30, 1945 under the command of General Shojiro Iida in the capital of Manzhouli Xinjing . She obeyed the 3rd front .
Many experimental units had already been transferred from the Kwantung Army to other units earlier, as the situation worsened in the Pacific Theater ; it became especially threatening by the beginning of 1945, as it showed signs of the formation of large Soviet forces at the borders of Menjiang and Manzhou-go.
Having been formed just a few days before the start of the Manchurian operation , the 30th Army, consisting of poorly trained and insufficiently equipped troops, could not resist the experimental units of the Red Army.
After a short battle for Xinjing (during which the remnants of the Imperial Guard of Manzhou surrendered), the 30th army surrendered, most of its surviving soldiers were captured .
