Mikhail Mikhailovich Lunin (1809 - 10/14/1844, Kiev ) - Russian historian, medievalist, polyglot , professor of general history at Kharkov University . He was called "Kharkov Granovsky " [1] .

Biography
Former among his listeners N. I. Kostomarov , under his influence, “loved the story more than anything” [1] .
Educated at the University of Dorpat , a professorial institute in Dorpat and abroad. At Dorpat University, he defended his thesis “Prolegomena ad res Achaeorum” (Dorpat, 1832) for the degree of Ph.D .; after which he moved to Kharkov , where for nine years (1835–1844) he taught a course in universal history at the university. In 1838 he was promoted to extraordinary, and in 1839 - to ordinary professors .
His course in history, which he did not finish because of death, “set about to tidy up and publish one of his talented students, but he did nothing and lost his notes in laziness.”
According to his colleague, Professor A. P. Roslavsky-Petrovsky, Lunin "... was not a hunter before the so-called high views ..., he was never fond of fashionable ideas and did not sacrifice to them the fullness of facts ..." [2]

His first biographer, V. P. Buzeskul, emphasized the influence Hegel had on his views [2] .
