Biography
Joseph Matrunchik was born on January 21, 1903 in the village of Kaykovo (now the Minsk district of the Minsk region of Belarus ). After graduating from six grades of the school, he worked as a laborer , laborer. In November 1925, Matrunchik was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In 1932, he graduated from the Orenburg Military Aviation School of Summerbags, in 1934 - the Borisoglebsk Military Aviation School of Pilots [1] .
He participated in the battles of the Soviet-Finnish war, being the squadron commander of the 18th high-speed bomber regiment of the 15th army . During the war, made 59 sorties to bombard accumulations of Finnish military equipment and manpower, inflicting heavy losses on the enemy [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 20, 1940, for "courage and heroism shown in battles," Captain Joseph Matrunchik was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 338 [1] .
Participated in the battles of World War II, was seriously wounded. After being wounded, he was a pilot inspector in piloting techniques at the 326th Bomber Aviation Division .
He died on May 9, 1945 , having been blown up on an anti-tank mine . He was buried in the city of Pyla, Greater Poland Voivodeship of Poland [1] .
He was awarded two orders of Lenin, two orders of the Red Star , a number of medals [1] .
