Four-seater bobsleigh competitions at the 1980 Winter Olympics took place on February 23 and 24 on the bobsled track in Lake Placid . 17 teams from 10 countries took part in the competition, the winner was determined on the basis of four races.
The victory with a margin of 0.95 seconds was confidently won by the East German crew of Meinhard Nemer , the absolute champion of the previous Games in Innsbruck. Behind him are the Swiss Erich Scherer and another representative of the GDR Horst Schönau - they have silver and bronze medals, respectively. It is noteworthy that in the dispersal of the first US team, the Olympic champion of 1968 participated in the 110m hurdles Willy Davenport , however, his crew managed to take only twelfth place.
