Biography
Valery Shishkin was born on December 23, 1939 in the village of the Krasnoye Flame plant in the Aleksandrovsky District of the Vladimir Region . He graduated from ten classes of the school. In 1957, Shishkin was called up to serve in the USSR Navy . In October 1961 he graduated from the Higher Naval School of Diving . He served in the Baltic Fleet [1] .

Since August 1968, the 2nd-rank captain Valery Shishkin commanded the ship, was a tester of a special military unit of the USSR Ministry of Defense. As such, he took part in important tests of the latest military equipment [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 19, 1973, for “creating, testing and mastering new military equipment and courage and bravery shown”, the 2nd-rank captain Valery Shishkin was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal Star ” under number 10735 [1] .
In January 1992, with the rank of captain of the 1st rank, Shishkin was transferred to the reserve. He lived in Moscow . He died on January 30, 2009, was buried at the Troekurovsky cemetery in Moscow [1] .
He was also awarded the Order "For Service to the Homeland in the Armed Forces of the USSR" 3rd degree and a number of medals [1] .
