Biography

Alla Evgenievna Pavlova was born on July 13, 1952 in Ukraine in a Russian family. In early 1961, the family moved to Moscow. After graduating from the music school, she entered the Moscow School of Music Ippolitova-Ivanova , which she graduated in 1975. In 1983 she graduated from the Gnesins Music and Pedagogical Institute (now the Gnesins Russian Academy of Music).

From 1983 to 1986 she lived in Sofia , where she worked in the Bulgarian Union of Composers and the Sofia National Opera .

From 1986 to 1990 she lived in Moscow, where she wrote a thesis on modern chamber-symphonic music at the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Art Studies and worked first at the board of the Musical Society of Moscow, and later at the board of the All-Union Musical Society as a senior consultant on musical criticism. During this period, wrote more than a hundred articles and reviews about music, published in the Soviet and Bulgarian press. At the same time she worked in the Bulgarian Cultural Center, organizing musical evenings with famous Bulgarian musicians.

Most of the time since 1990 he lives in New York, where he is a member of the Union of Women Composers of New York [1] . From 1995 to 2000, she taught piano at the New York School 92Y School of Music. Since the late 2000s, she devoted herself entirely to composition.

Works

Alla Pavlova is the author of many compositions for orchestra, including 9 symphonies, the ballet “Shulamith”, many chamber, vocal and instrumental compositions, which were performed in the USA, Canada, Europe, Japan, India and Australia. In her writings, she combines classical, romantic and modern style, as well as gospel and popular genres.

  • 1990 - Pieces based on fairy tales by Hans Christian Andersen .
  • 1993 - “Winter Morning” verses by Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin for soprano, cello and flute.
  • 1994 - prelude for piano "For my mother."
  • 1994 - “Summer Sketches” for piano.
  • 1994 - Symphony No. 1 “Farewell, Russia” for chamber orchestra.
  • 1995 - “Nostalgia for Old New York”, suite for piano.
  • 1997 - “Remember, but let go”, song for mezzo-soprano violin, cello and two guitars.
  • 1998 - “I loved you”, masterpieces of Russian poetry for mezzo-soprano, violin and piano.
  • 1998 - Elegy for piano and string orchestra.
  • 1998 - Symphony No. 2 “For the New Millennium”.
  • 1998 - “Nostalgia for Old New York”, suite for trumpet, alto and tenor saxophone, percussion and string orchestra.
