Fan Kexin was born in 1993 in Qitaihe , Heilongjiang Province. In September 2010, she became a member of the national short track team.

In 2011, Fan Kexin won the gold medal of the Asian Relay Games, and at the World Championships she won gold medals in the relay and at a distance of 500 m.
