Zapod (also Zapot ; Alb. Zapodi ; Serb. Zapod / Zapod ) is a village in northeastern Albania . It is part of the Zukod district of Kukes community, located in the Albanian part of the historical region of Gora , whose main population is representatives of the Islamized South Slavic ethnic group of Gorans . In addition to the village of Zapod, the Gorans in Albania also live in the villages of Borye , Kosharishte , Orgost , Oreshek , Ochikle , Pakis , Shishtevac and Tsernolevo [2] .

Closest to Zapod are the villages of Pakis, Kosharishte, Ochikle and Bel . Two Goran villages - Pakisha and Kosharishte - are located east of the West, the village of Ochikle, in which Gorans also live, is located to the south-west, the Albanian village of Bela - to the west.
History
After the second Balkan war of 1913, part of the territory of the Mountain, on which the village of Zapod is located, was transferred to Albania. In 1916, during the expedition to Macedonia and , the Bulgarian linguist Stefan Mladenov visited the village, according to his calculations there were about 40 houses in the village at that time [3] .
According to the report of the chief inspector-organizer of Bulgarian church schools in Albania, Srebren Poppetrov, compiled in 1930, there were about 80 houses in the village of Zapod [4] .
