Story

The cartoon begins in Gothic - a smoky industrial city where the main form of transport is steam-powered airships . The city was struck by a peptic ulcer, causing death to residents. The main character, the royal navigator Jasper Morello, sets off on another trip, in which the airship crew must set weather lighthouses. In the past, due to the fault of Jasper Morello, due to an error in the calculations, one of the crew members died. Jasper's wife remains in the city. An eccentric doctor joins the airship team, who is looking for a cure for the epidemic on behalf of the Academy. Shortly after the start of the journey, the airship falls into a storm and crashes. Finding an abandoned ship, the team decides to continue on its way. In one of the communication sessions, Jasper finds out that his wife Amelia has suffered an epidemic, but the journey continues anyway, despite Jasper's desire to return home.

The team becomes infected, but the captain does not turn the ship back. On the way of the airship comes a soaring island. Exploring the island, Jasper is attacked by a huge insect. The doctor wants to capture the insect alive and deliver it back to the city, but the captain of the airship kills a species previously unknown to science, saving Jasper. The team prepares food for itself from the killed insect. The crew notices that the monster’s blood heals the sick, after which the doctor insists that it is necessary to bring several cocoons of this creature to the city. During the return flight, creatures hatch from the cocoons, but die quickly. One day, a doctor discovered that a creature needs to feed on human blood and reports this to Jasper. The doctor convinces him to keep this discovery secret from the team and the captain, because he fears that the team will kill the creatures and they will not be able to bring them to the city to heal people. The next day, one of the crew members disappears, and the crew decides that he just fell overboard. The team arranges a plentiful booze on the occasion of the upcoming return home. Jasper becomes an involuntary witness of how a creature devours a missing person, but the doctor stabs Jasper with sleeping pills, and he wakes up chained to the helm. The doctor takes advantage of the moment while the crew members are dead drunk and seizes power on the ship.

The doctor uses humans to feed the creature with them. Only to Jasper Morello does he save his life so that the navigator takes the ship home.

A few days later, the ship leans sharply toward the iceberg, and the doctor slides off the airship deck, but grabs the ledge and begs Jasper, who is still chained and cannot help save him. The ship crushed the doctor, colliding with an ice floe.

At the end of the cartoon, Jasper feeds the creature by applying a blood-sucking machine to his hand so that it survives.
