The painting is Salahov's thesis . The picture depicts oil workers returning from a shift on Oil Rocks [2] . In 1956, Salakhov, while still a student, came to Oil Stones . Over the three months of his life on Oil Rocks, the observations and impressions received by Salakhov formed the basis of his diploma work at the Moscow State Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov (workshop of P. D. Pokarzhevsky ) [1] - paintings “On Watch” [2] , written in 1957 . In the same year, Salakhov participated in the All-Union Art Exhibition dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution with the painting “On Watch” [1] .
“On Watch” has received great recognition, they started talking about the author as an undoubted talent. To meet the gusty wind, tearing clouds of spray from the foaming waves, oil workers are returning home along shaky bridges. In their figures - and fatigue, and perseverance, and strength [3] . Art critic and critic Yekaterina Dyogyot notes that in the work “On shift” people are relatively relaxed (after all, not on shift), “covered by the breeze of a rather impressionistic painting, deprived of tension”. True, they are going against this wind - one must understand, “against the tide”. The work was done on the first wave of de-Stalinization , or relinization. Salakhov was one of those in whose youth the XX Congress of the CPSU accounted for, and this forever left an imprint on him [4] .
