History
The theater began its activity in 1934, but keeps its chronicle [ clarify ] from the time of its creation on December 16, 1931 in Krivoy Rog, the Kryvbas Theater. Therefore, the theater celebrated its 80th anniversary not in 2014, but in December 2011. By the anniversary of the city were allocated and funds for the repair of the theater [1] .
The creative group of the theater in 1934 numbered 38 people, of which 4 honored artists of the republic. First generation actors: Bessarab I. Ye., Bessarab Ye. S., Perezdrienko Z. I., Levkovich P. I., Filkevich L. G., Krasnoplahtich A. M. [2]
During World War II, the theater, which at that time bore the name of the Krivoy Rog Ukrainian Drama Theater, was evacuated to the Krasnoyarsk Territory , where it continued its activities. During the war, the theater managed to present to the public about 30 productions.
After the war, the theater was disbanded and part of the actors moved to the team of the Dniprodzerzhinsky Russian Drama Theater named after T. Shevchenko who moved to Krivoy Rog [2] . In 1949 the theater was named after Taras Shevchenko .
Instead of the theater building destroyed by the fascists, in 1949-1954 a building in the avenue of Karl Marx was erected in the style of Stalinist neo-classical architecture by architect V. Zuev [3] .
The theater had the names: Krivoy Rog Drama Theater, Russian Drama Theater, music and drama. From 1966, it was called the musical-drama, and in 1981 it began to bear the name - the Theater of Drama and Musical Comedy named after Taras Shevchenko. Since 2012, it bears the name - Krivoy Rog Academic City Theater of Drama and Musical Comedy named after Taras Shevchenko.
Representatives of the theater successfully take part in festivals in St. Petersburg , Odessa , and Nikolaev .
For more than 80 years of creative activity, the theater gave more than 20 thousand performances, on tour more than 700 performances were given, 150 of them for children.

Over the years, actors of the theater troupe were awarded the honorary title “ Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR ” on the Krivoy Rog Stage: Braslavsky B. G. , Dudka A. S. , Kotovets V. N., Zabaluev V. M., Danilov D. V., Annenkova C. P. , Levina N. P., Zakharov P. S., Ranantsants A. A., Weaver F. V., Sukhanova L. I.; as well as the chief conductor of the theater Alekseev Yu. V.

- Diploma of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR (1984) - for success in the development of the Soviet theatrical drama, in connection with the fifty-year anniversary.
