Biography

Anatoly Ryzhikov was born on February 18, 1920 in the village of Isaevo (now the Rodnikovsky district of the Ivanovo region ). Before the war, he lived in Ivanovo , where he graduated from nine classes of a school. In 1937, Ryzhikov was called up for service in the border troops of the NKVD of the USSR. In 1939, he graduated from the Moscow Military Technical School of the NKVD of the USSR [1] .

From the first day of World War II - on its fronts, he was the chief of communications of the Buzhora commandant’s office of the Kalarash border detachment of the Moldavian border district. From the very first hours of the war, Ryzhikov actively participated in battles, personally destroying 3 machine guns and several enemy soldiers. Itself eliminated damage on the telephone line, thanks to which communication was maintained between the border posts. The border guards managed to hold out until July 2, 1941 , after which they retreated [1] .

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of August 26, 1941, for “exemplary fulfillment of command assignments and shown courage and heroism in battles with the German invaders”, Lieutenant Anatoly Ryzhikov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 519 [1] .

In 1946, Ryzhikov graduated from the MV Frunze Military Academy , after which he taught at the F.E.Dzerzhinsky Military Institute, at the Higher School of the KGB of the USSR, at Higher Border Command Courses. In October 1988, he retired with the rank of Colonel Ryzhikov. He lived in Moscow . He died on May 19, 2000, was buried at the Troekurovsky cemetery in Moscow [1] .

He was also awarded orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st and 2nd degrees, the Red Star , "For Service to the Homeland in the Armed Forces of the USSR" 3rd degree, a number of medals [1] .

A memorial plaque in memory of Ryzhikov was erected by the Russian Military Historical Society at school number 39 in Ivanovo , where he studied.

By decision No. 558 of May 16, 2018, the Ivanovo City Council was given the status of "street" and the name "Pogranichnik Ryzhikov Street" on the Minechko Mineevo road - the Dalniy village connecting Minskaya Street and Frunze Street in Ivanovo.
