The monument to students and teachers of the Leningrad Mining Institute was erected in 1976 on the territory of the St. Petersburg State Mining Institute. G.V. During the war , a unique explosive was made on the territory of the Leningrad Mining Institute, the main component of which was ordinary blue Cambrian clay, and students and graduate students of the institute went into sappers and demolitions; 185 of them died on the fronts, hundreds died of starvation. [9]
The memorial complex consists of a granite stele (500 x 200 x 89) with a relief , monuments-busts to the partisan miners and granite slabs, under which are placed capsules of earth from the hero cities . [10] [11] Three figures of the defenders of the besieged Leningrad are depicted on a stele made of pink Karelian granite and the inscription is carved:
“Descendant, know your freedom, value and courage learn from the brave”
