Biography
Peter Shutov was born on November 23, 1913 in the village of Malaya Puza (now the Pochinkovsky District of the Nizhny Novgorod Region ). He studied at the housing construction college. He lived and worked first in Nizhny Novgorod , then in Kolomna . In 1934, Shutov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1938, he graduated from the Moscow Military Command School. He participated in the battles of the Soviet-Finnish war, being the chief of staff of the division of the 402nd howitzer artillery regiment of the 7th Army of the North-Western Front [1] .
At the critical moments of the battles, the Shutov twice replaced the out-of-command battery commanders and successfully led these units. Thanks to the intelligence obtained by Shutov, the division destroyed several important Finnish defense facilities and obstacle lines, which contributed to the successful offensive of infantry units [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 21, 1940, for “exemplary performance of command missions on the front against the Finnish White Guard and courage and heroism shown at the same time”, Lieutenant Pyotr Shutov was awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal " Under the number 362 [1] .
He graduated from the first year of the F.E.Dzerzhinsky Military Artillery Academy. From the beginning of World War II - on its fronts, he went the battle path to Germany - the commander of the 39th Guards mortar order of the Red Star Regiment. He participated in the Soviet-Japanese war - the commander of the 17th heavy guard mortar brigade. After graduation, he continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1950, Shutov graduated from the Military Academy named after M.V. Frunze , in 1955 - from the Military Academy of the General Staff . In 1971, with the rank of major general, he was transferred to the reserve. He lived in Moscow .
He died on November 23, 1989, was buried at the Troekurovsky cemetery in Moscow [1] .
He was also awarded five orders of the Red Banner , the Order of Alexander Nevsky , two orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, the Order of the Red Star and a number of medals [1] .
