Tori Historic Area

Tori ( Georgian თორი ) is a historical region in central Georgia (today part of the Samtskhe-Javakheti region ).
It borders on Trialeti in the east, on Imereti in the north-west and on Shida Kartli in the north-east.
The region lies in the so-called Borzhomi gorge . In the Middle Ages, the Tories were the family property of the Gamrekeli family ( Toreli ).
The name " Tori " ceased to be used in the XV century . At the same time, the region passed into the possession of the Avalishvili family .
