George Tsypin ( born George Tsypin ) is an American production designer, set designer, architect and sculptor. [2] He is the production designer and co-author of the script for the opening ceremony of the 2014 XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi [3] .

Biography
Born in 1954 in Kazakhstan. [four]
In 1977 he graduated from the Moscow Architectural Institute and in the same year received the II prize of the international competition "Theater for Future Generations" in Paris . Since 1979, lives and works in New York . In 1984 he graduated from the stage design department of New York University .
Creativity
Among the works of Georgy Tsypin - exhibitions and installations, theater and opera productions, the design of concerts, films and television programs.
He worked in the largest opera houses in the world, staged performances at the New York Metropolitan Opera , the Paris National Opera , Milan 's La Scala Theater , Covent Garden , at the Salzburg Festival . His first solo sculpture exhibition was a success in 1991 at the Twining Gallery in New York .
Collaborated with directors Julia Taymor, Peter Sellars , Zhang Imou , Pierre Audi, Andrei Konchalovsky ; composers Phillip Glass, John Adams, Kaya Saariaho; Conductors Daniel Barenboim , Seiji Ozawa and Valery Gergiev .
His first solo exhibition of sculptures was successfully held in 1992 at the Twining Gallery in New York . In 2000, George was the author of a major exhibition in England called "Planet Earth" dedicated to the change of millennia and which included an installation of moving architectural elements and more than two hundred sculptures. In 2002, George's works were presented at the Venice Biennale. Tsypin was the production designer for Disney's The Little Mermaid and Spider-Man on Broadway . For the last production, he was nominated for Tony's highest theater award.
Currently, Tsypin is working on a carousel project on the territory of the New York Trade Center (formerly Gemini). [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10]
