Biography
He graduated from high school number 444 in Moscow (1965), worked as a schoolboy in mathematical circles at the Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty of Moscow State University , occupied prizes at the Moscow Mathematical Olympiads, in 1965 - at the VII International Mathematical Olympiad in Berlin.
He graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics of Moscow State University (Department of Probability Theory) in 1970. The supervisor of the graduation project - A.D. Solovyov .
Since 1970, he has been working at the VA Mathematical Institute. Steklov (MIAN). As an applicant (without training in graduate school) in 1972 he defended his thesis "Conditions of degeneration of modified branching processes" [1] , his supervisor was B. A. Sevastyanov .
Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (1982) [2] , the dissertation topic "The approximation of dependent random variables independent and their applications."
In 1994 he headed the Department of Discrete Mathematics of the Steklov Mathematical Institute.
Since 1995, he has been teaching at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics (part-time), giving courses in probability theory, theory of random processes, additional chapters of probability theory, and conducting a special seminar on discrete problems of probability theory; Since 2005, the head of the department of mathematical statistics and random processes.
