Biography

The son of the famous painter M.N. Vorobyov . In 1833 he entered the Imperial Academy of Arts in the class of landscape and perspective painting, where he studied under the guidance of his father. In 1836 he was awarded the small and large silver medals, in 1837 - the small gold medal, in 1838 - the large gold medal for the painting β€œView of the Falls Manor of Count A. H. Benckendorf near Revel ”. In 1839 he completed his studies at the Academy with the title of artist of the XIV class. [one]

The successful completion of studies at the academy gave the artist the right to a retirement trip abroad, for further improvement. In 1840, Vorobyov went to Italy for six years. He worked in Rome and Naples . In 1844 he was in Palermo under Nicholas I , at the request of which he created an album of paintings with views of Italy.

In 1846 he returned to Russia, where he was elected an academician without performing compulsory program work. In 1847, he again went to Italy for two years to paint with funds provided by Nicholas I. In 1849 he returned to St. Petersburg, where he participated in academic exhibitions. In 1852 he created a series of works with views of the suburbs of the Russian capital.

After the death of his father in 1855, he taught at the Imperial Academy of Arts, where he led the class of landscape painting, consisting of correcting the duties of a professor. Since 1858 - professor, without the execution of a compulsory program. In 1872, he quit the academy and settled on the estate of Turmont , Novoaleksandrovsky district of the Coven province , where he spent the last years. In this period of his life, he practically did not draw. [2]
